Hudson and Roeser Named to Daily Journal’s Top Labor and Employment Attorneys of 2025
Manatt Employment and Labor Leader and Partner were named to Daily Journal’s 2025 Top Labor and Employment Lawyers, recognizing the leading attorneys across the state working in this space.
Hudson and Roeser were recognized for their representation of Blake Lively in her ongoing litigation against Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and related parties, most recently of Baldoni’s countersuit against Lively and his lawsuit against the New York Times.
In her profile, Hudson discussed her path to becoming a leading advisor in employment and labor law, finding the facts, legal issues and strategy dynamics “fascinating,” she said. “Employment cases have elements of justice and fairness that go to the heart of what the law is all about, and I was drawn to that early on,” she continued. As the practice has evolved, Hudson noted employment lawyers now need to consider the legal consequences and public perception of employer conduct.
“Public relations is becoming more of an issue in all labor and employment matters, as social media creates a readily available forum for the proliferation of information at record speed,” Hudson said.
Roeser was also recognized for her work representing clients in employment disputes across the state, as well as her deep commitment to constitutional and civil rights issues through pro bono work. Her profile highlighted her work leading successful challenges to vehicle towing policies in San Francisco on behalf of the Coalition on Homelessness and in an amicus brief supporting a domestic violence survivor’s appeal on behalf of the California Women’s Law Center.
“Each litigation matter presents new and interesting obstacles, especially when employment law is constantly evolving in response to court opinion and legislative action on a state and federal level,” Roeser said.
