Manatt Attorneys to Speak at ABA Forum on Entertainment & Sports Industries Fall Conference
Manatt Partners and will present “Trial by Algorithm: Litigation and Reputation in the (Mis)Information Era” at the American Bar Association Forum on Entertainment & Sports Industries’ Fall Conference, “Lights, Camera, ATL,” taking place October 7–9 in Atlanta. The panel will explore how litigation, reputation management, social media and emerging technologies increasingly intersect in high-profile disputes.
Moderated by Hudson, the panel will examine how online narratives are created, amplified and manipulated through anonymous networks, coordinated influence campaigns, social media algorithms, generative AI and other digital tools. Panelists will discuss how to distinguish authentic engagement from coordinated or artificial activity, the attorney-client privilege considerations that arise between legal and public relations teams, and the legal and ethical challenges that can emerge during fast-moving public controversies. Hudson will be joined by Tony Freinberg of Edendale Strategies and an additional technology and AI industry panelist.
The session will explore practical and emerging issues related to online influence campaigns, reputational challenges and digital communications in the context of litigation. Panelists will discuss topics including identifying coordinated online activity, preserving evidence, responding to misinformation, and navigating the legal and ethical considerations that can arise when litigation unfolds in the public eye.
