Federal Duals Demo Begins to Show Signs of Saving Money

Modern Healthcare mentioned Manatt’s Stephanie Anthony, a director with Manatt Health, in an article on a federal experiment that tests better ways to manage benefits and care for low-income and disabled Americans. The test is showing signs of saving money, despite initial struggles. 
In Massachusetts, officials from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services previewed the evaluation findings and were pleased with the results, according to Anthony. While the CMS didn’t release numbers, Anthony thinks Massachusetts’ savings could be higher than Washington’s since more services may be overseen under a capitation versus fee-for-service model.
