New Administration Dismisses U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara

Sessions’ Attorney Purge Sets a Bad Precedent
– Compliance Week

Compliance Week quoted Ken Julian, co-chair of the firm’s corporate investigations and white collar practice, in an article about the high turnover of U.S. Attorneys since Attorney General Jeff Sessions took office. Terminations included U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara, who refused when Attorney General Sessions asked him to resign. President Trump then fired him.

"The dismissal [of Preet Bharara] was well deserved," said Julian, who previously served as a federal prosecutor in the Central and Eastern Districts of California. "The U.S. Attorney must be above politics. Refusing to honor the resignation request was disrespectful to the new Attorney General.”
