Changes to ACA Silver Plans Could Increase Premiums by 34 Percent

Manatt’s Joel Ario, a managing director with Manatt Health, was quoted by Modern Healthcare for an article examining the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA) reconstruction.

The Congressional Budget Office projected that premiums for the most popular ACA exchange silver plans would increase by an average of 34 percent next year, the publication explained. The elimination of the individual mandate and the proliferation of thinner, less expensive plans could threaten to take healthy people away from the individual market.

“Those are game changers in the short run,” said Ario.
