Manatt’s Joel Ario, a managing director with our Manatt Health team, was interviewed by Bloomberg Government about Medicare for all.
The publication noted that many moderate and progressive Democrats alike are struggling to find the right vehicle for a single-payer health insurance system, considering the lack of clarity on a common definition and the understanding that the Republican-dominated Senate will push back.
Ario said that just looking at a single-payer model will require lawmakers to decide whether they mean traditional Medicare, which doesn’t cover everything, or Medicare Advantage, which is run by insurance companies.
