Trump Attorneys Seek Staggering Fee Recovery Amount

Trump Attorney Fee Request Is ‘Excessive, Extreme,’ Avenatti Says
– Daily Journal

Manatt’s Robert Jacobs, co-chair of the firm’s entertainment, sports and media litigation practice, was quoted by the Daily Journal in an article about the prominent Stormy Daniels defamation suit.

Stephanie Clifford, an adult film actress known by her stage name Stormy Daniels, filed a defamation suit against President Donald Trump when he responded zealously on Twitter to her allegation that the two had an intimate relationship. The publication noted that a federal judge said that Trump's tweet was hyperbolic and dismissed the case. As a result, Trump's attorneys now seek $341,559 in fees.

“The fees are excessive both in terms of the rates and in [terms of] the scope of work for which an award is sought,” said Jacobs. “There is a statutory entitlement to reasonable fees. The amount will be less than what Trump is requesting.”
