Federal Prosecutors in New York Subpoena Trump Inaugural Committee

CNN Tonight With Don Lemon

Manatt’s Jack Quinn, a partner in the government and regulatory practice, spoke with CNN about the subpoena issued by federal prosecutors in New York against President Trump’s inaugural committee earlier this week.

The prosecutors are seeking documents related to donors and vendors and investigating “conspiracy against the U.S., mail fraud, wire fraud, money laundering and whether foreign donations were made by Russia to the U.S.,” Quinn said about the subpoena.

He speculated that other countries may be implicated as well.

“I’m not accusing [Trump] of wrongdoing, but his whole business empire has turned very significantly on his relationships with [Persian Gulf] states, and these countries at that point in time were as eager as Russia or anyone else to curry favor with the Trump political people,” said Quinn.
