Manatt’s Jack Quinn, leader of the firm’s regulatory and group, spoke with CNN on Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s testimony before Congress on July 24 and potential implications of the hearing.

Mueller answered questions before two committees about the contents of his report on alleged Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, according to CNN. Topics covered included whether Trump could be exonerated by the report, and whether or not the investigation was a “witch hunt,” as it has been called by President Donald Trump.

Quinn disagreed with an assertion made by President Trump that the hearing was “a disaster.”

“I think the chairs of both committees, and [House Judiciary Committee Chair] Jerry Nadler in particular, really set the table well and got answers that got to the critical points in the early part of the hearing,” he said.

Quinn also said he anticipates further hearings about the contents of the Mueller Report.

“This is not the end of the hearings,” he said. “We’re going to have hearings that have star witnesses like [Former White House Counsel] Don McGahn, and that’s the meat of this thing. This hearing was not meant to close the book on this.”
