OutLaws 2019 Preview: How Best to Advance LGBTQ Professional Leadership
– Thomson Reuters

Manatt’s Donna Wilson, CEO and Managing Partner-Elect and leader of the privacy and data security group, spoke to Thomson Reuters ahead of the Legal Executive Institute’s OutLaws 2019: Advancing LGBTQ Professional Leadership conference, to be held on June 12 in New York City. Wilson is one of the event co-chairs.

“While we have much to celebrate and we’ve made tremendous progress towards equality, there is still plenty of work to do to, and conferences like this create a dedicated space for our community to come together and discuss some of those important issues,” she said.

Wilson also shared how she joined the local LGBTQ bar association when she first started practicing law in Washington D.C., and started attending events and conferences.

“I met tremendous people and connections at these events and felt they established a great sense of belonging for our community within the legal profession,” she said.

She also noted that the resources available to an LGBTQ bar association were minimal at the time – something she is glad to see has changed.
