More Changes Ahead for Substance Use Record Sharing Law

Manatt Health partner Alexander Dworkowitz spoke with Bloomberg Law on the additional changes HHS is expected to issue following changes Congress made through the CARES Act to align the recently passed 42 CFR Part 2 law with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. In the article, Dworkowitz discussed how this new regulation could impact the sharing of patient records, saying, “the new regulation could allow providers to share data in compliance with HIPAA once they have the initial, general consent for sharing those records, until that consent is revoked.”
