Privacy law rules to be considered by board next week
– Daily Journal

Privacy and Data Security Partner Brandon Reilly spoke with Daily Journal on the California Privacy Protection Agency’s recently released draft data privacy rules for companies sharing and selling consumer information, noting the unique guidance for companies in the augmented and virtual reality spaces.

In the article, Reilly said that the draft regulations are a welcome first step for businesses evaluating their readiness, adding that compliance measures will be crucial given that the draft regulations may not be finalized until the end of the year. On how the draft rules may benefit companies in the augmented reality and virtual reality spaces, Reilly commented, “That type of practical guidance can be very helpful to regulated businesses, particularly for relatively new laws and regulations that do not yet have a developed body of case law or regulatory guidance to interpret them.”
