Manatt Partners with Aspen Institute and LACMA for Why We Play
Manatt has partnered with the Aspen Institute Sports & Society Program and the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) for the launch of : Sport, Art, and the Making of Modern Life.
The series brings prominent athletes, artists and authors together to explore the role of sport in society and how it has shaped our ideas on culture, identity and community.
Insights from the 18-month series will be paired with selected artworks, shaping a major LACMA exhibition and companion book leading up to the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Why We Play will act as a lead contributor to the Cultural Olympiad, showcasing the host country’s culture and artistic excellence and engagement with the community, and highlighting our longstanding relationship with LACMA.
The first event in the series took place on November 12 in the historic Rose Bowl Stadium and focused on the theme of “Belonging.”
Entertainment Partner joined the invitation-only roundtable, reflecting on the way sport fosters inclusion and creates connection, while acknowledging the challenges the come with it.
Additional Rose Bowl Institute roundtables are planned around the themes of “Freedom” and “Power.”
