Manatt Represents Designer Paul Tazewell in Met Gala Collaboration with Chappell Roan, Vogue & eBay

Manatt proudly represented Tony, Oscar, BAFTA and Emmy Award-winning costume designer Paul Tazewell in his creative collaboration with chart-topping artist Chappell Roan, Vogue and eBay for the 2025 Met Gala.

Led by Entertainment Partners  and , with support from Associate , the Firm represented Tazewell in his negotiations with Condé Nast. Tazewell’s design—a custom, upcycled look that premiered on the Met Gala red carpet—highlighted sustainability and innovation in high fashion, and was part of Vogue and eBay’s initiative to champion circular fashion through luxury vintage and reimagined pieces.

This announcement comes on the heels of another extraordinary milestone—Tazewell won the 2025 Tony Award for Best Costume Design of a Musical for Death Becomes Her, marking his second Tony win after his iconic work on Hamilton. This follows his 2025 Academy Award win for Costume Design on Wicked, placing him among the rare few to win both a Tony and an Oscar in the same year.

"Paul’s singular creative voice continues to shape the cultural landscape across stage, screen, and fashion,” said Sophia Yen, Partner in Manatt’s Entertainment Group. “We’re proud to support artists like Paul through our Manatt Icon practice—visionaries whose work challenges convention, celebrates identity, and redefines what’s possible in their fields.”
