College Football Championship Leaves the Academic Sphere

The college football championship game that occurred last Monday night had little, if anything, to do with academics. The game was played at a very high level of skill, but the fact that the contestants represented institutions that have a primary academic mission was not apparent. Ron Katz, the chair of Manatt's sports law practice group, commented on this in Forbes.com:
