The 80 Million Podcast Returns to Focus on H.R. 1 Implementation

H.R. 1 is moving from legislation to implementation. States are now translating sweeping changes to Medicaid eligibility, financing and program operations into systems, policies, program changes and processes that will affect millions of people.

The next 12 months will be pivotal. New immigration-related eligibility restrictions took effect Oct. 1, while work reporting requirements and more frequent eligibility renewals begin for many Medicaid expansion adults in January 2027.

Season 2 of The 80 Million Podcast will follow implementation in real time, examining what federal guidance requires, how states are responding and what these changes mean on the ground for Medicaid enrollees, providers and health plans.

The 80 Million Podcast returns for its second season on Oct. 23, following Medicaid through one of the most consequential implementation periods in the program’s history.
