Fostering Responsible Innovation in California: Meet DFPI’s Christina Tetreault

As its name suggests, California’s new Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (“DFPI”) isn’t just about protecting consumers—it also has an important mission to foster responsible innovation. What exactly is DFPI doing in that regard? In this webinar interview, DFPI Deputy Commissioner Christina Tetreault, head of the Office of Financial Technology Innovation, will share plans for the office, seek industry input, and answer questions from the audience. To facilitate an open discussion, Deputy Commissioner Tetreault has agreed to take the questions on an anonymous basis.

We encourage you to submit questions* in advance of the program that you would like Deputy Commissioner Tetreault to answer during the live webinar. Please send your questions to by Friday, July 23.

The session will be co-moderated by Jan Lynn Owen, a senior advisor in Manatt Financial Services and the former commissioner of the California Department of Business Oversight (now the DFPI) and Scott Pearson, a partner in Manatt Financial Services.
