As a result, legislatures, courts, and international legal bodies across the globe have attempted to stem the flow of malicious AI‑generated content, but have these efforts been effective?
Episode 14: Generative AI & Deepfakes
The webinar will examine the legal landscape surrounding this increasingly scrutinized aspect of AI. Tod and Vejay will guide attendees through a comparative overview of laws governing this technology, including U.S. federal efforts to protect individuals from the harmful impacts of malicious generative content through enactment of the TAKE IT DOWN Act, the varied patchwork of state laws ranging from California’s expansive Defending Democracy from Deepfake Deception Act to states such as Alaska, Missouri and Ohio that have yet to enact deepfake‑specific legislation, and international approaches from the comprehensive EU AI Act to the United Arab Emirates’ requirement for express consent for the use of personal information and likeness. In addition to exploring these legal frameworks, the speakers will highlight industry sectors at the forefront of these issues, including the entertainment and marketing communications industries, where the protection of intellectual property, brand integrity and individual likeness is a foundational business concern.
