State Strategies to Expand Integrated Employment for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities
In recent years, many states have placed a strong emphasis on supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) in engaging in competitive integrated employment (CIE). Meaningful participation in the workforce—earning wages, contributing to society and pursuing personal and professional growth—not only enhances the quality of life for individuals with I/DD, but also enriches entire communities by fostering greater inclusion and celebrating developmental diversity in the workplace.
