Jacob Geskin

Jacob Geskin is a Music and Entertainment associate in Manatt’s New York office, where he advises clients on transactions across the full lifecycle of the music business—from early‑stage producer and artist agreements to complex, multi‑hundred‑million‑dollar catalog acquisitions involving legacy and global rights. His practice combines deep transactional experience with a sophisticated understanding of copyright, publishing and royalty structures.

In addition to his music practice, Jacob maintains a robust advertising and consumer Protection practice, and is among a small cohort of attorneys who regularly appear before the National Advertising Division (NAD). He has successfully represented clients in high‑stakes NAD proceedings involving emerging technologies, data‑driven advertising and novel consumer‑facing claims.

Jacob brings an uncommon interdisciplinary background to his legal work. Before entering law practice, he built a career spanning neuroscience research, and is a published author in the field of cognitive neurobiological perception. He has also worked in the music non-profit space, and as a talent buyer, promoter and artist manager – experience that informs his practical, business‑minded approach to representing artists, entrepreneurs and rights holders.

Jacob earned his J.D. in the United States and an LL.M. from Spain’s leading law school, where he wrote and defended a master’s thesis on the unification of music publishing rights across European Union member states. His work frequently involves advising clients on intellectual property strategy, licensing, and the legal implications of emerging technologies, including blockchain. While in law school, Jacob served on the board of Fordham Law School’s Blockchain Law Society and wrote for the Fordham Intellectual Property, Media and Entertainment Law Journal.
