James Williams
James Williams is a Financial Services partner on Manatt’s Digital Asset team, focusing on the regulatory, corporate, and commercial frameworks defining the future of finance. His experience bridges the gap between traditional U.S. securities and commodities law and the frontier of DeFi protocol design.
James advises token issuers, asset managers, trading firms, fintech platforms, and growth-stage technology companies on capital formation, on- and off-shore structuring, token modeling, and the full regulatory arc from initial characterization through ongoing compliance. His clients include some of the most consequential names in digital assets as well as institutional fund allocators navigating the emergence of crypto as a regulated asset class.
Prior to Manatt, James spent 12 years in executive leadership, including a decade as CEO of a global consumer brand and a tenure as a private fund operating partner.
