She also routinely litigates consumer class actions involving data and privacy claims, including cases brought under the California Invasion of Privacy Act. Kyla has successfully advocated on behalf of clients in a wide array of industries including real estate, energy, technology, healthcare, consumer products, food and beverage, financial services, and entertainment.
Kyla is comfortable in the courtroom, but she understands that litigation is often new and unfamiliar territory for many businesses and individuals. She enjoys counseling clients through the complicated litigation process and serving as a trusted advisor in every step of the litigation including the initial fact investigation, discovery, depositions, dispositive motions, and trials. Clients compliment Kyla for taking the time to understand their priorities in initiating and/or defending against lawsuits and implementing effective strategies that reflect those priorities. Although Kyla is the rare attorney that enjoys litigation, she is dedicated to balancing costs against results when it comes to dispute resolution and has a keen understanding of the business implications of the legal process. She has successfully negotiated favorable settlement agreements at various stages in the litigation.
Alongside this work, Kyla is dedicated to her pro bono practice. She has represented several clients seeking pathway to citizenship in the United States, including representing individuals in asylum proceedings and filing amicus briefs in the California Supreme Court and Courts of Appeal. Kyla is also passionate about criminal justice reform and has been recognized by countless organizations for her efforts to reduce mass incarceration by representing incarcerated individuals and advocating for reform in the legislature.
