Monica Kulkarni is an advertising, marketing and media associate in Manatt’s Washington, DC office. She represents clients across a variety of industries and provides multidisciplinary legal counseling on transactional, compliance and regulatory matters in advertising, entertainment and media.

Monica advises leading brands and companies on marketing campaigns, advertising and marketing practices, promotions, brand partnerships, talent agreements (including spokesperson, brand ambassador, influencer and affiliate agreements), agency agreements, artificial intelligence, and intellectual property matters. Her practice involves reviewing advertising and marketing materials for legal compliance (including claim substantiation) and drafting official rules and other materials for marketing programs (including sweepstakes, contests and other promotions). She also assists with cases in front of the National Advertising Division.

During law school, Monica served as a judicial intern to the Honorable George Russell III of the U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland. She also was a student volunteer with the Maryland Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, where she advised artists and small-business owners on business- and intellectual property–related matters. Monica currently sits on the Junior Board of Volunteer Legal Advocates, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free legal services to domestic violence survivors and vulnerable children in Washington, DC, and Montgomery County, MD.
