Montz Quoted in NBC News on Affordable Care Act Open Enrollment Data 

Manatt Health Managing Director was quoted in NBC News on the uncertainty surrounding the data for Affordable Care Act (ACA) open enrollment, which began November 1, 2025 and runs through January 15, 2026 in most states. Montz noted that individuals might be holding off on making their coverage choices as they wait for more information about the future of enhanced subsidies.

Early numbers reflect a trend in people walking away from ACA coverage or switching to cheaper plans for 2026 compared to the same time last year. Officials state that it is premature to determine if the trend will persist; however, initial figures may indicate financial challenges among individuals experiencing premium increases as a predominant reason for the numbers.

“This open enrollment is unlike any we have ever experienced,” Montz said. “In typical years we would caution against making conclusions on total enrollment from the first few weeks of data and this year that caution is even greater.”
