Naomi Newman is a director of Manatt Health, an interdisciplinary policy and business advisory division of Manatt. She advises the leadership of major health systems, post-acute care providers and community clinics on strategic, organizational, and policy priorities, with a particular focus on health system transformation, accountable care, and population health. She has worked with leaders and physicians throughout California and the Western U.S. to design and implement creative solutions to the challenges placed upon their organizations by the changing healthcare landscape. Specifically, she manages strategic and operational planning efforts related to developing innovative growth strategies, improving operating results, advancing health system formation, building affiliated networks, and designing novel payer-provider partnerships, such as ACOs and Clinically Integrated Networks.
Naomi's project work has included facilitating strategic and business planning efforts for academic medical centers, cancer centers, accountable care networks, and post-acute providers; designing, launching and managing implementation efforts for major strategic initiatives; and advising on the implications of health policy changes and the Affordable Care Act for clients' business models.
She has also overseen and performed detailed profitability, market share, competitor and performance analyses to guide clients through an evaluation of growth opportunities; led performance improvement initiatives resulting in cost savings; conducted clinical integration readiness assessments; and performed in-depth assessments of funds flow mechanisms across hospital and affiliated medical group entities. She has also co-authored white papers on Medicaid and Medi-Cal policy.
Prior to joining Manatt, Naomi was a supervising senior managerial consultant for The Permanente Medical Group (TPMG) at Kaiser Permanente (KP), where she oversaw a team of four, and facilitated the development of TPMG's cancer strategy, supported business planning for new pioneering clinical programs, and led clinical performance improvement initiatives across the organization's Northern CA footprint. Before KP, Naomi was a senior consultant with The Chartis Group, where she provided strategic planning, financial alignment, and operational improvement analysis and advice to academic medical centers, children's hospitals, and health systems.
