Manatt Health Senior Advisor , Senior Managing Director and Manager wrote an article for Behavioral Health Tech discussing the importance of youth peer support services in improving behavioral health for adolescents.
With the recent rise of mental health and substance use issues in the young population, offering support services delivered by youth could provide a path to positive and effective treatment, according to the article. Youth peer support services connect troubled youth with trained young adults who have faced similar challenges and are able to provide support by sharing their experiences. “In short, youth peer supports can show young people a path forward, giving them a peer who whose story that can identify with,” the authors wrote.
