Manatt Digital and Technology partner Eric Bergner and associate Bea Hinton authored an article for Bloomberg Law on why business-to-business (B2B) companies need to reassess their dependence on traditional business models and adopt business-to-consumer (B2C) strategies to survive and flourish in today’s e-commerce economy, and especially in a post-COVID world. In the article, the authors noted that B2B companies face rapidly evolving operational challenges, especially in the current unpredictable environment where e-commerce channels are booming. “B2B businesses that work with their internal stakeholders and outside counsel early and often to map both B2B and B2C data and track data flows; operationalize legal compliance; establish appropriate physical, administrative and technical safeguards; and conduct employee compliance trainings will have a clear advantage over their competitors and be well-positioned to navigate, in real time, changes to existing privacy frameworks and additional privacy regulations down the line,” they added.
