Privacy and Data Security Co-leader and Partner Scott Lashway joined Manatt Digital and Technology Counsel and Director Matthew Reece in co-authoring an article for Sports Business Journal about data privacy and security rules and processes in the sports industry as it continues to transform into a digital platform.
As stakeholders collect, store and use increasingly large amounts of data, consumer concerns over data capture and use by consumer-facing businesses continues to rise. The authors note that "technology and data use by the sports business has changed drastically from even five years ago, and new solutions and privacy laws will drive constant change in the near future." They also provide key steps in creating a robust and flexible privacy program for industry stakeholders.
