Guyer Quoted in Bloomberg Law on State Medicaid Expansion

State Medicaid Expansion Gains Momentum Despite GOP Opposition
– Bloomberg Law

Manatt Health Senior Managing Director Jocelyn Guyer was quoted in a Bloomberg Law article discussing Medicaid expansion to low-income individuals in states that historically have opposed it. North Carolina, for example, recently expanded Medicaid.

Currently, ten states still have not yet adopted Medicaid expansion, as allowed under the Affordable Care Act. In the article, Guyer points out that some of these holdout states are taking a fresh look at expansion now that the Affordable Care Act is considered settled law. “The dominant sentiment, including among Republicans in places like North Carolina, is that the Affordable Care Act is here and it’s here to stay, and every single congressional effort to repeal, every single effort at litigation to get rid of it has failed,” Guyer explained.
