L.A. County to Lift COVID-19 Restrictions on June 15 as Metrics Continue to Improve

COVID-19 metrics continue to improve in L.A. County. The County’s daily test positivity fell from 0.5% last week to 0.4% on Friday, May 21, a new record low for the pandemic. In addition, daily new cases, hospitalizations and deaths have continued to decline. The County’s adjusted case rate was 1.2 new cases per 100,000 people, down from 1.4 the previous week, and the County’s seven-day test positivity rate fell to 0.6% from 0.7%.

On Friday, May 21, 2021, the County Department of Public Health announced that the County would lift most COVID-19 restrictions on June 15, in line with the state’s plans. This will include the elimination of mask mandates in most situations, easing of capacity limits on businesses, and termination of the county’s travel restrictions and quarantine requirements.

Vaccinations

As of May 16, 2021, the County reported administering 9,113,124 doses of COVID-19 vaccine; 5,366,571 first doses and 3,746,553 second doses. Almost 4 million County residents are fully vaccinated, and 58% of all County residents have received at least one dose.
