Manatt Continues Expanding Intellectual Property Capabilities With East Coast Arrival

Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, is pleased to welcome Intellectual Property Protection & Enforcement Counsel Sherli Furst in New York. Furst is the latest addition to the Firm’s expanding national Digital & Technology practice, and her extensive experience counseling clients on a variety of trademark and copyright matters and handling complex intellectual property (IP) disputes further strengthens Manatt’s existing IP capabilities spanning various industries, including entertainment, health care, fitness, fashion and apparel, food and beverage, and other consumer products.

Furst’s experience includes trademark clearance and prosecution, management of international trademark portfolios, branding/copyright counseling for online/digital media, Internet rights, the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, contract and commercial disputes involving IP, global enforcement of IP rights, trademark and copyright infringement and other disputes, Trademark Trial and Appeal Board proceedings, unfair competition and rights of publicity. In addition, she has specific experience advising clients on monetization of IP assets, credit rights and revenue distribution, as well as having worked on a variety of trademark protection and federal litigation matters.

IP is central to Manatt’s multidisciplinary model and is a mainstay within the broad industries and sectors in which the Firm focuses. Furst joins a growing trademark and copyright protection and enforcement team, which is led by Partner Jessica Wood, that offers clients practical and strategic advice on a variety of cutting-edge IP matters. The Intellectual Property Protection & Enforcement practice is a key component of the Firm’s Digital & Technology Transactions group—led by Partner Eric Bergner—which is known for helping clients navigate the complex and constantly evolving landscapes of digital media and technology through a holistic and bespoke approach to transactions and business counseling. Through this approach, the group is uniquely situated to be a leader in helping clients comprehensively address issues surrounding the protection and optimization of their valuable IP assets.

In addition to her IP work, Furst has helped clients navigate commercial disputes, cross-border litigation, government and regulatory investigations, putative class and mass actions, and financial services litigation matters, and has advised financial institutions and multinational corporations through multijurisdictional disputes.

Furst received her J.D. from the Georgetown University Law Center and her B.S. in industrial and labor relations from Cornell University.
