A Place to Heal: Opportunities in Recuperative Care

People experiencing homelessness face disproportionate health challenges, including higher rates of chronic illness, longer hospital stays, and limited access to post-acute care. Recuperative care —also known as medical respite care—is gaining national attention as a critical service for individuals experiencing homelessness who are too ill to recover on the streets but not ill enough to remain hospitalized.
In a new webinar, Manatt Health and the National Institute for Medical Respite Care (NIMRC) will provide a foundational overview of recuperative care and how it can be financed. They will be joined by Illumination Foundation, one of California’s leading recuperative care providers, who will discuss their delivery model and the successes and challenges they have experienced to date scaling their program operations.
Key topics include:
- A primer on medical respite care, including an examination of its impact on health outcomes
- An overview of the diverse models used to deliver medical respite care across the country
- A breakdown of the different funding sources supporting medical respite care, including the role of State Medicaid programs
Speakers:
- , Managing Director, Manatt Health
