Shifting Ground: Navigating the New Landscape of Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder Treatment

...

Starting in 2027, new federal Medicaid eligibility and work requirements will put health coverage at risk for millions of Americans. For people living with serious mental illness and substance use disorders, these changes may create compounding challenges, as many already face barriers to maintaining coverage and accessing treatment. States, providers, and community organizations are now grappling with how to preserve access to care in the face of growing fiscal and operational pressures.

In this timely webinar, leaders from across the mental health and substance use disorder treatment fields will discuss what these changes mean in practice, how states are preparing for the coming cuts and coverage disruptions, and how providers are adapting to protect patients and sustain critical services. While the challenges ahead are significant, the discussion will also examine where opportunities may exist to drive innovation, improve coordination, and build more resilient systems of care.
